Comment:
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is used for different purposes like virus / phage accumulation (1), fusion plant protoplasts (2) or the fractionated precipitation of proteins (5). Besides, it improves the ligation efficiency by 'macromolecular crowding', i. e. the concentration of the molecules in solution (40 % stock solution in ref. 3, 4).
